Project Summary

This project aims to liberate the Babar Masih family—a household of six including Babar, his wife, two sons, and two daughters—from the crushing burden of 35 years of bonded labor in a brick kiln in Pakistan. Trapped in a cycle of generational debt and exploitation, the family works long hours in harsh conditions for extremely low wages. The goal is to raise 3,300€ to fully pay off their debt and an additional 1,100€ to purchase a second-hand Loader Rickshaw, which will enable them to start a small goods transport business. This life-changing initiative will not only secure their freedom but also provide a sustainable path to financial independence and dignity.

Background

For a quarter of a century, Babar Masih and his family have endured forced labor, making thousands of bricks each day by hand. They earn just enough to survive, yet their debt never decreases—kept intentionally in place by kiln owners through interest and manipulation.Their average daily income is around 9€, with half of it deducted toward debt repayment, leaving barely 4.50€ per day for six people. Without outside intervention, they are condemned to a lifetime of poverty, exploitation, and slavery.

Objectives

  • Debt Liberation – Raise 3,300€ to pay off the family’s entire debt and set them free.
  • Livelihood Support – Purchase a second-hand Loader Rickshaw (1,100€) to start a small business.
  • Sustainable Income – Help the family grow their income from under 60€/month to 300€/month.
  • Reintegration with Dignity – Restore their place in society with freedom, purpose, and independence.

Expected Impact

  • Immediate Freedom from 35 years of bonded labor
  • Sustainable Livelihood through a family-run transport business
  • Economic Empowerment with a stable monthly income
  • Restored Dignity & Rights for the entire family
